About the
Texas Kali Association (TKA) History
The Texas Kali Association,
originally known as the Arnis Texas Association, was founded by Mataas
Na Guro Erwin Ballarta in 1993. Guro Erwin started the group as a
way to share his Filipino culture and impact the lives of others in a
positive way. Guro Erwin always said, "I don't want
followers, I want to develop leaders." Today, the Texas Kali
Association is stronger than ever thanks to the passion of its
members. For more about the Texas Kali Association history click

Vision Statement
Integrity, Leadership and Mastery The
Texas Kali Association Vision Statement holds multiple layers of
meaning: Integrity
- The Texas Kali Association members value integrity in character,
integrity in how we represent ourselves as well as integrity in how we preserve the
art of Kali. Leadership
- We are here because we love the art and hope to represent it in a positive
light as well as glorify it through serving the community. In
doing so, we hope to positively impact the lives of others and lead
through service and sharing. Mastery
- "Back to Basics" or the focus on "Mastery" has been a theme of our training philosophy from day one.
Mastery implies working towards perfection and is not only a quest to
improve skill in Kali, but to master oneself and thereby become a better
person. Board

for more information about what membership means and about becoming a member of the Texas Kali
Association. Website
This website was launched to provide a communications tool for the Texas Kali
Association and to satisfy, in part, the first TKA objective: "to introduce Kali to the public through lectures, seminars, classes, tournaments, exhibitions and the like;".
The site represents the collaborative efforts of TKA members Rich, Leslie,
Arvee and Rene. The content in the various pages, guest book and forum is
monitored by the TKA Board of Officers to assure that we adhere to a code of
conduct consistent with our values and our Constitution and By-Laws.
