Attending seminars and special
intensive training sessions are a good way to become exposed to a variety of
training material and to focus on developing specific skills in more
depth. The Texas Kali Association currently offers seminars in various
locations.
Seminars vary in content and
length, but often cover a variety of weapons categories and concepts together
with coordination and body mechanics development. Some TKA instructors
can also offer seminars that include Kali as well as other related martial
arts such as Pencak Silat or Kuntao.
Seminar programs are usually
divided into 1-2 hour blocks of instruction that cover specific skill sets,
techniques, principles, themes and lectures. A typical seminar may
include 4-5 hours of instruction a day for 1 or 2 days. If conducted on
the weekend, a short session can also be arranged for friday night before the
main seminar as well as private lessons for the host or hosts. Be sure to
check the events
page and the forum
for any upcoming seminars.
If you would like to request a
seminar in your area, contact the TKA here.
Together, we can determine the program right for you and your group as well as
assist with any preparations. If you have a particular instructor in
mind already, contact him or her directly from the contact
page.
